Zum Thema hier ein Bericht von Reuters:
UPDATE 1-Michael Jackson files allegedly stolen by hackers
Mon Mar 5, 2012 12:16pm EST
By Mike Collett-White
(Reuters) - A large number of music files of the late "king of pop" Michael Jackson were allegedly stolen from record company Sony Music by computer hackers, sources familiar with the case said on Monday.
Sony Music, a unit of Sony Corps, signed a deal with Jackson's estate in 2010, the year after the "Thriller" singer's death, to release 10 albums covering previously unreleased material and his back catalogue.
The value of the agreement was widely reported to be around $250 million, making it one of the biggest in music history. But sources close to the label have disputed the figure, calling it pure speculation on the part of the press.
On Friday, two men appeared in a British court accused of offences connected with the alleged security breach. They were arrested last May and charged in September.
James Marks and James McCormick denied the charges under the Computer Misuse Act and the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act at Leicester Crown Court.
According to the Serious Organised Crime Agency, they were remanded on bail and were due to stand trial in January next year.
Sony Music issued a brief statement:
"We confirmed the breach last May and immediately took steps to secure the site and notify authorities," the company said. "As a result, the two suspects were arrested. There was no consumer data involved in the incident."
The IFPI record industry lobby group declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
Sources could not confirm British media reports that tens of thousands of files, most of them by Jackson, were allegedly downloaded illegally, although files can vary from entire tracks to small snippets of music.
The allegations come less than a year after Sony faced widespread criticism over its systems security when hackers accessed personal information on 77 million PlayStation Network and Qriocity accounts.
The company later revealed hackers had stolen data from 25 million accounts of a separate system, its Sony Online Entertainment PC games network.
Industry sources said there was nothing to suggest that the large-scale hacking cases were linked to the Jackson files breach.

@Ivy_MJJC MJJC is caught in this situation because Gaz leaked cascio snippets & James's mix on Ustream
Also Gaz was well aware of the situation and asked James and Cartman to find more rarities for MJJC Exclusives!
Of course it was, like they changed the charges 30 minutes before hearing because they had no hope of prosecuting him.
Also I dont see the relevance of this, Gaz was beggning them for the cascio tracks and other demos to leak on MJJC
Wait until court, see the evidence, we have both screenshots and logs of Gaz's begging for unreleased music, dont let them lie anymore
FACTS: 1. There never was and never has been any Hacking. 2. MJJC/Gaz are continuing to lie, he now has 3 stories of the situation!
FACTS: 3. The motivation behind the OPEN access to the servers was primarily to ensure the Cascio lies were stopped!
FACTS 4. No Access or downloading of any Previously unreleased, Unleaked or Unheard Michael Jackson song EVER happened Infact those songs were taken and offered for sale to my husband and others, police are aware of these people but are not investigating!
Some people need to stop eating so many chocolate bars and do some research on the Law
My Husband was well within law to take open copies of work for the use of research and a heavily talked about consumer fraud case

La Toya Jackson Insists It's Not King Of Pop On Michael Album
Michael Jackson's sister La Toya has thrown her weight behind allegations an impostor was hired to record tracks for the King of Pop's posthumous album, insisting some of the vocals featured are "definitely not" those of her late brother.
A report on Tmz.com last week (ends04Mar12) caused a stir among fans after editors claimed Paris Jackson had been caught telling a friend via video chat that the 2010 release, Michael, was recorded by a mimic who had been drafted in to complete her father's songs.
In a clip obtained by the website, Paris allegedly played the track Hold My Hand and when asked by her unnamed pal why the voice on the tune didn't sound like her father's, she revealed, "It's not him... the whole album isn't even him!! Go online... go on YouTube and look up Jason Malachi. That's him!! I should know if it's him (Jackson) or not because he would sing to me all the time."
The 13 year old immediately dismissed the story, taking to Twitter.com to write, "People should know by now not to believe the media when it comes down to Tmz talking about my family. Hold My Had (sic) IS my dad actually singing."
But now La Toya has questioned her niece's logic by revealing that Paris actually called her in a panic after discovering the posthumous tunes were allegedly bogus.
During a co-hosting stint on U.S. daytime show The Talk on Monday (05Mar12), La Toya Jackson recalled, "I haven't heard the complete album but I do know some of the songs that I've heard, it is definitely not his voice."
Recalling the phone conversation with Paris, she explained, "During that time I was doing (reality show) The Apprentice and Paris called me and said, 'Aunt La Toya, I want you to listen to something... You gotta listen to this, this is not daddy's voice.'
"She played it for me and I go, 'Paris, you're right, it's not.' And I kept listening, and kept listening and it was not his voice and she was so concerned about it and she said, 'We gotta put a stop to this. We must to put a stop to this. And I'm not gonna let them (record executives) get by (get away) with this.'
"This is a little girl, and this is the way she thinks because she loves her father and she didn't wanna see that out there when it wasn't her father's voice. And she went on to say this is the person who impersonates him and he's very good at it.
"
Edit:

Sony Music confirms hack of Michael Jackson tracks

Sony says a number of Michael Jackson tracks have been stolen after its website was hacked.
The company will not confirm how many tracks or what material was taken in the online attack.
In 2010 Sony Music paid $250 million (£158m) to the late singer's estate for a seven-year deal for the rights to his remaining songs.
The first tracks came out with the release of a posthumous album called Michael in December that year.
The singer, who died in June 2009 at the age of 50, had recorded unreleased duets with artists ranging from the late Freddie Mercury and Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am.
In April last year Sony's PlayStation Network was hacked and the company admitted that the personal details of more than 70 million people may have been taken.
The hack of Michael Jackson tracks is said to have taken place soon after that but has not been revealed until now.
The Sony Music site also hosts tracks by other artists including the Foo Fighters, Olly Murs and Avril Lavigne although it is still unclear whether they are affected.
Two men from the UK have appeared in court to deny computer misuse and copyright offences.
James Marks, 26 and from Daventry, and 25-year-old James McCormick from Blackpool, were arrested last May and are due to stand trial in January 2013.Bookmark with

Hier ein interessanter CNN-Artikel zum Thema vom 21.6.2011:
19-year-old arrested over Sony hack, London police say
June 21, 2011|By the CNN
A teenager has been arrested near London in connection with the hacking of Sony, London's Metropolitan Police said Tuesday.
The 19-year-old is suspected of hacking into systems and mounting denial of service attacks against "a number of international businesses and intelligence agencies," police said.
Naming suspects who have been arrested is illegal in Britain.
A police spokesman, who declined to be named in line with custom, said the arrested man's computers will be examined for activities related to hacks against the UK's Serious Organized Crime Agency, the CIA and Sony.
Sony's PlayStation Network went down on April 20 after what Sony said was a massive data breach. It had more than 70 million subscribers at the time.
It began coming back online in mid-May. The PlayStation Store did not reopen until June 2.
The company estimated the cost of that attack will total $171 million.
Hackers later broke into Sony Pictures' website, compromising the accounts of over 1 million users, and the gaming company Sega, stealing nearly 1.3 million users' details via a British subsidiary of the Japanese company. Sega makes games for PlayStation and other gaming systems.
The suspect's computer will also be examined for links to LulzSec, another police spokesman told CNN, who also declined to be named in line with custom.
"This link has not been established yet as it is still early days," the spokesman said.
The hacker group LulzSec posted an irreverent denial that its leader was the one arrested.
"Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it's all over now ... wait ... we're all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?" they said on Twitter several hours after the announcement of the arrest.
LulzSec claimed recently to have attacked the CIA website, and took credit for hacking into the website of the American public broadcaster PBS and posting a fake story saying the rapper Tupac Shakur was still alive. He was killed nearly 15 years ago.
It's unclear whether LulzSec members played a role in the Sony PlayStation Network breach.
But they have posted on their website what they claim is proprietary information from Sony Pictures and other Sony properties' websites.
On Friday, on the occasion of their 1,000th tweet, the group posted a manifesto of sorts in which they said people, including their targets and advocates of Internet freedom, should be thankful.
"The main anti-LulzSec argument suggests that ... our actions are causing clowns with pens to write new rules for you," the group wrote. "But what if we just hadn't released anything? What if we were silent? That would mean we would be secretly inside FBI affiliates right now, inside PBS, inside Sony ... watching ... abusing ... ."
They seemed to suggest that by making their attacks public, they'll push websites to increase security. They said they're sitting on account information for 200,000 players of the online game Brink, but moments later said that releasing people's information is worth doing sometimes because it's fun.
"Yes, yes, there's always the argument that releasing everything in full is just as evil, what with accounts being stolen and abused, but welcome to 2011," they wrote. "This is the lulz lizard era, where we do things just because we find it entertaining."
Analysts said the group appears to be some sort of spin-off of "Anonymous," the loose coalition of hackers that grew to prominence through their support of the whistle-blower site WikiLeaks.
But while Anonymous has its own set of moral codes and is largely politically motivated, LulzSec seems to be random.
For every hack like the one on PBS, which the group said came out of anger over a documentary about WikiLeaks, there's the cracking of porn site pron.com -- and a subsequent public list of members' e-mail addresses and passwords.
The teen suspect was arrested in Essex, outside London, in a raid that police said was "intelligence-led."
The suspect was arrested Monday night and police are now examining a "significant amount of material," they said.

James Marks & Jamie McCormick - Media Release
The media has paid a lot of attention to this case over the last few days.
Some of the information provided to the media, thus far, is grossly inaccurate.
There is a trial fixed in January 2013 and both defendants are keen not to prejudice their defence by further disclosures. However, they are eager to point out to Michael Jackson's fans and family that they would never do anything to harm the legacy that is Michael Jackson's music. As Michael Jackson has said "lies runs sprints but the truth runs marathons".
Mr Marks and Mr McCormick deny the allegations against them and are confident they will prove their innocence at their trial.

LONDON January 11, 2013 (AP)
A pair of U.K. hackers has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service for the theft of unreleased Michael Jackson tracks from Sony Music Entertainment.
Officials say that music aficionados James Marks and James McCormick used their home computers to break into Sony's U.S. servers and scour them for Jackson-related material. Britain's Serious and Organized Crime Agency says the pair downloaded nearly 8,000 files, including completed or partial tracks, artwork, and videos.
The 27-year-old Marks and 26-year-old McCormick were arrested in May 2011 after Sony alerted U.K. law enforcement to the breach. Chat logs recovered from their computers showed that they planned to sell or trade some of the files.
They were handed suspended sentences and ordered to do community service at central England's Leicester Crown Court on Friday.

Two sentenced for hacking Sony Music servers
Gregor McGill, Head of Organised Crime at the Crown Prosecution Service, said:
“James Marks and James McCormick have today been sentenced for hacking the servers of one of the world’s largest recorded music companies from their home computers in Daventry and Blackpool respectively. Both huge enthusiasts of Michael Jackson, they targeted Sony Music which has the exclusive license to the late musician’s catalogue. At the time of his death, there existed recorded but unreleased Michael Jackson music which aroused the attention of Marks and McCormick.
“It was the prosecution’s case that these men were fully aware that the files they obtained on their computers were subject to copyright and that they took steps to sell on and to share the music with a wider audience in internet forums.
“In simple terms, these men broke into a computer system and took music files that were not theirs to take. That was criminal activity.”
Background:
They were sentenced at Leicester Crown Court to six months suspended for one year and 100 hours community requirement, having each pleaded guilty to two counts of unauthorised access to computer material.
